Gandhi Jayanti at Mangalore
Mangalore, October 10: Students of Amrita Vidyalayam, Mangalore, celebrated Gandhi Jayanti in a befitting manner here.
Manorama M Bhat, writer-dramatist, who was the guest of honour, narrated her experiences of how the philosophies of Mahatma Gandhi have influenced people.
The function started with the traditional lighting of the lamp and was followed by Sarvadharma Prarthana, wherein students recited a few verses from the Bible, the Quran and the Bhagavad Gita.
Shailashree, school pupil leader, placed a khadi garland on Gandhiji’s portrait.
Students presented Gandhiji’s bhajans, a skit and speeches as part of the celebration.
Krishna Prasad, parents teachers association president, Uday Kumar, secretary, and Madhav Suvarna, former president, were present. Ananth and Trupti, students, welcomed the gathering and proposed a vote of thanks, respectively. Chandrakala, assistant teacher, compered the programme.
The project exhibition of Amrita Vidyalayam was held here recently. Students displayed their work, which included both charts and files of various projects assigned to them in different subjects.
The projects included working models of environmental pollution, volcanoes, production of electricity, electro-magnetism, which the students explained with the guidance of their teachers. Parents, teaching, non-teaching staff, who viewed the exhibits, appreciated the efforts of the students.

Amma's Birthday
The 54th birthday of Mata Amritanandamayi was celebrated at Amrita Vidyalayam here recently.
Indira Varma, principal, performed “paduka puja”. The office-bearers of parents teacher association, teaching, non-teaching staff and students of the cabinet performed “ksheera-bhisheka” to the “paduka” of Mata Amritanandamayi. Bhajans, meditation and ashtothara chanting, formed part of the celebrations.

Amrita Kala Sangam
Amrita Vidyalayam, Saket- Delhi, a shining star amongst the series of Amrita Vidyalayams throughout India added yet another glorious chapter to its history by hosting its 4th Inter-school competition "Amrita Kala Sangam".
The event provided students from many renowned schools in Delhi with a platform on which they could showcase their talent in various fields such as stotranjali (chanting), fancy dress, solo classical dance, folk dance, story telling with puppets, hasya kavi sammelan (comic poetry reading), elocution, debate and others.
Smt. Anita Sethia, Deputy Director of Education, South Zone, was Chief Guest along with a number of prominent personalities from the field of performing arts.
Amrita Kala Sangam culminated with dazzling ceremony during which the prizes were distributed. The prestigious trophy was won by Amrita Vidyalayam. But it was awarded to another school - St. George - because of their overwhelmingly enthusiastic participation in the event. 
The school assured that it would continue with such endeavours to promote the spirit of competition among the students.

Unique Performance
First batch of Amrita Vidyalayam, Nigdi, Pune has secured 100% results in SSC Examination conducted by Maharashtra SSC Board.
The students have come out with flying colors with 55% of them having distinction and 43% having first division. Out of 79 students who appeared for SSC Exam only one student has 2nd division.
Sawar Nilopher Raju with 92.76% and Mulay Radhika Prashant with 91.69% have topped the school.
